Wait vs Await: 两者有什么区别？

在学习英语的过程中，'wait' 和 'await' 这两个单词常常让人感到困惑，因为他们之间只相差1个字母，而且意思几乎一样，翻译成中文都是“等待”。但它们到底有什么不同呢？弄清楚它们的区别，才能够帮助我们自信使用英语。

wait的含义和用法

Wait' 的含义是“等待”，是非及物动词，也就是说，wait 后面不能直接跟宾语，例如：

I will wait here until you come back.

我会在这里等你回来。
We had to wait for the bus for almost an hour.

我们不得不等了将近一个小时的公交车。

wait和await的主要区别

wait 是非及物动词，后面不直接跟宾语。而 await 是及物动词，后面可以直接跟宾语。
wait 并 wait 更加正式，常见在正式的写作中。wait 比较常出现在日常对话中。
wait 后面不可以直接跟宾语，但是可以跟 for 搭配使用，形成 wait for sb/sth 的结构，表示等待某人或某事。
wait 还可跟 to 搭配使用，形成 wait to do sth 的结构，表示等待执行某个动作。
wait 还可以做名词用，表示等待时间。例如：
- We had a three-hour wait before we could see the doctor
  我们等了3个小时才见到医生。
