Fewer vs Less: 两者有什么区别？

在英语学习中，'fewer'和'less'这两个单词经常会令人困惑。它们都用来描述数量较少的情况，不过它们用法上有所区别。

'fewer'通常用来修饰可数名词。

There are fewer apples in this basket than in the other one.

'less'通常用来修饰不可数名词或抽象概念。

I have less interest in playing video games now.

作为一个经验法则，如果你能数得过来就使用'fewer'，如果你数不过来，或描述的是一个整体或抽象的概念，就使用'less'。

不过也有例外，例如在表达时间、钱或度量衡时常常会用'less'，即使它们是可数的。比如:'He finished the test in less than 20 minutes.'或'I spent less than 50 dollars.'
